Social
Investing
We offer social investing services for those clients wishing to achieve their financial objectives within constraints reflective of general social concerns. Our investment process for this service includes a further screening of qualifying equities according to various social rating criteria. Equities are selected from a database of over 1000 companies analyzed on over 60 social criteria in ten major issue areas.
Socially Responsible
Investing
Social investing incorporates the investor's ethical values in the investment decision making process. It is appropriate for clients wishing to affect corporate policies on environmental, employment and product issues including corporate governance. We use our standard quantitative modeling process in conjunction with social screens to identify stocks with above average return potential.
Domini 400
Social Index
The Domini 400 Social Index includes over 400 corporations that pass multiple, broad-based social screens and serves as the core universe of stocks from which we make stock selections for social investors. The Boston-based social research firm of KLD Research and Analytics, Inc. has identified these companies by applying multiple social screens and excluding companies involved in such areas as weapons contracting, alcohol and tobacco production, gambling, and nuclear power. Companies with significant concerns in areas such as employee relations, product safety and environmental stewardship are also excluded.
Selecting
portfolios for Social Investors
We begin by using our quantitative modeling process to evaluate the investment potential of all the stocks in our universe of over 8,000 stocks. We then screen the stocks we rate as potentially strong performers to identify those which are in KLD's broad market social universe. On a weekly basis, this results in a select list from which we build and actively manage portfolios for social investors.
